Dave Thompson MSP has expressed concern about Highland Council’s decision to revisit the decision to get more information on the cost of peat removal from the Blar Mhor site for the Fort William Gaelic School.
Dave said, “I am concerned that the Lochaber Gaelic school site decision is being brought up again this week at the full Highland Council after a clear vote at the Committee to get more information on site costs. Surely it is not unreasonable to get more info on site costs for such a major project and it is important to make the right decision based on the full facts. After all we are only talking about a few weeks after many years.
I believe that the school should go on the Blar Mhor, if at all possible, along with all of the other facilities which are being built there and, especially, as it will probably need to be expanded soon after it is built, as have all other Gaelic Schools, and I doubt the Ardgour Road site could accommodate that in future.
The long term view should be taken and a decision certainly should not be made without all of the facts.”
