Dave Thompson MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has praised the pledge by the Scottish Government to do what it can to crack down on fixed-odds betting terminals.
The machines involve a 20 second spin, costing as much as £100 in some cases, which has led to machines being branded “the crack cocaine of gambling”.
Mr Thompson commented: “I am aware much of the legislation around this issue is reserved to Westminster but it is nonetheless encouraging that the Scottish Government recognises the danger of these highly addictive machines and I look forward to the new Scottish Government guidelines on the issue being unveiled”.
