Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch who recently (24/03/15) hosted the Scottish Young Consumer of the Year final in the Scottish Parliament, has congratulated Fortrose Academy for their sterling efforts, which earned them third in the competition. The competition was organised by the Trading Standards Institute and its Consumer Education Liaison Group; allowing teams of four 14-17 year olds to compete in a knockout consumer quiz. The winners, Ayr Academy, will now go onto compete at the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) UK Final held in London on 24th & 25th June 2015. Mr Thompson said, “I thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Young Consumers Event in the Parliament and I particularly enjoyed watching the enthusiasm generated by the quiz. “The Fortrose Academy team can hold their heads high having made the Scottish final, managing to finish a very credible third in the competition. “This experience will stand them in good stead for a tilt at victory next year. “I congratulate the winners, Ayr Academy and wish them all the best in the UK final in June."
