Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is urging folk in the Black Isle (Ward 10) to return their ballot papers for the Black Isle Community Energy Project because this will give the vote the validity it requires by making the franchise as extensive as possible.
Mr Thompson said, “For your vote to count, your ballot needs to be returned no later than 12 noon on 12th March.
I urge as many folk as possible to return their ballots before the closing date to ensure that the consultation is participative and meaningful”.
Dave went on, “I am very much in favour of Community Renewables, but I also respect the views of the community at large.
The more participative the ballot, the clearer picture we will get of the feeling in the Black Isle, so I urge folk to return their ballot papers”.
Dave went on, “In my view, the community has an opportunity to take control of the development and to generate an income stream in the longer term, which will also help improve local facilities”.
“And importantly, as we attempt to de-carbonise our electricity generation, this scheme would be a big contributor to achieving a national aim at a local level”.
