Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch visited the Arisaig Highland Games, taking the time to speak with Joanne Matheson, the Secretary of “Made in Lochaber” about the promotion of Artists and Artisans and even managed to purchase himself a hand crafted stick (as pictured), as he encouraged folk to buy local produce.
Made in Lochaber is a group of food and craft producers living and working in the Lochaber area, their range of specialism going from freshly butchered venison and cured meats, smoked produce, jams and chutneys, to fine art, textiles, ceramics and woodwork, and much more besides.
Mr Thompson said, “As usual I enjoyed the Arisaig Highland Games which was a great example on how to organise a successful event.
“It was particularly good to stop and chat with Joanne Matheson of Made in Lochaber. I am a firm believer in buying local and do so when I can and I would encourage folk to do the same. In particular, I can testify to the quality of Made in Lochaber’s products, having bought a sturdy stick from the stall.
I wish Made in Lochaber and other local producers all the best in the future”.
Joanne Matheson, Secretary of Made in Lochaber said, “Made in Lochaber is currently undergoing a massive programme of growth and development, following 20 successful years’ operating under the name Lochaber Crafts and Food Producers Association. We welcome all artists, artisans and craft-makers to join our informal group, and help us to find new routes to market, and provide real assistance to us all as we develop our diverse businesses.
