Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed news that his proposal for a Cross Party Group (CPG) on Religious Freedom has been approved by the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments (SPPA) Committee to run in the Scottish Parliament.
The group will provide a forum for MSPs, enabling discussion and the widest possible engagement with the multi-faith community, locally, nationally, and internationally.
Mr Thompson said, “I welcome that my proposal for a Cross Party Group on Religious Freedom has now been officially approved by the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee to run in the Parliament.
“MSPs will use the group as a platform to foster respect and tolerance in our communities and will consider issues from all faiths and none and will do so at a local, national and international level.
“I look forward to working with and inviting the broadest range of religious groups and other interested societies, to ensure the widest possible representation”.
Dave went on, “I urge interested parties to keep their eyes on the Scottish Parliament website, where notice of future meetings will be advertised”.
