Highlands and Islands SNP MSP Dave Thompson has called for action to repair the Wellington lay-by near Loch Ness.
The retaining wall to the lay-by was damaged in 2008 following a landslide and has yet to be repaired.
Commenting on this, Mr Thompson said: This lay-by provides visitors to the area with their first glimpse of the world famous Loch Ness, and it has been in need of repairs for almost 2 years.
Tourism is a vital money-spinner for the area and the closure of this lay-by could very well prove to be costly to local businesses in the summer season.
The repairs are now vital to the local economy and to the safety of locals and visitors alike.
To this end, I have written to the Transport Minister, Highland Council, Transport Scotland and Scotland Transerv to urge them to carry out these repairs as a matter of urgency and to find out when the repairs are likely to commence.
Hopefully the repairs will be completed before the summer season and tourists will again be able to stop in the lay-by to admire the beauty of Loch Ness and the surrounding area in safety.
