Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has congratulated the 30 members of Dingwall Gaelic Choir on winning the Lovat and Tullibardine Shield at the Royal National Mod in Dunoon.
Commenting on this, Dave said: “The Lovat and Tullibardine Shield is considered to be the most coveted choral award at the Royal National Mod, and it is a testament to the talent and dedication of all 30 members of Dingwall Gaelic Choir that this marks the fourth time in five years that they have secured this prestigious award.
During this period of success the choir has been conducted by Kirsteen Menzies. Dave has submitted a parliamentary motion, in both English and Gaelic, congratulating the choir on their fantastic achievement.
Adding to this, Dave said: “Kirsteen Menzies and the Dingwall Gaelic Choir’s remarkable successes in this award are a fantastic boost for Gaelic culture.
This is not the first time the success of this choir has prompted me to submit a motion to the Scottish Parliament but it is right that their on-going achievements of being recognised as the best in Scotland is marked by the country’s Parliament.
