Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, is pleased that recent evidence demonstrates the economic benefits that Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) brings to the area.
In the Highland council area the services supported by CAB has secured 146 jobs with wages of £3.2 million.
Dave said: “I am delighted that the excellent work done by CAB in my constituency. This report highlights the impact they have supporting jobs, and shows why it is vital to maintain their funding.
The Fraser of Allander report presented the evidence of the economic benefits of the Citizens Advice Service in Scotland, which totalled £166.2 million.
CAB have also recently published a short film Depend on Us which highlights the work that CAB do around the country.
Dave added:
“Welfare reform and the huge cuts being imposed by Westminster will create even greater demand for the services provided by CAB.
“While the Scottish Government will do all it can to offset the effects of the welfare cuts, it is vital that CAB remain well-resourced and able to help people who need it in the coming years.
