Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has welcomed the news that Fiona Wares has been awarded £1,276 from the Millennium Awards Trust.
Fiona, from Aviemore, has been awarded the funding to help set up a Special Needs On Board Card, which is a medical card for people with special needs. The card is designed to help people in rural areas with limited or no phone signal.
Commenting on this, Dave said: “I am delighted that the Millennium Awards Trust are supporting Mrs Fiona Wares initiative. This will make a real difference to the lives of those with particular medical needs.
“As we come to rely more and more on mobile phones, rural areas where signal is poor can be challenging, particularly for vulnerable people who may require medical attention.
“This card will give holders confidence that should they get into any difficulties and are unable to call for help, information on their medical needs will be readily available.”
