Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has urgently written to NHS Highland to raise his concerns over the lack of availability of pregnancy scans at Belford Hospital in Fort William.
Dave has been contacted by concerned constituents, who say people are having to make an unacceptable 200 mile roundtrip to Inverness for the scans. While Belford has all the required equipment, there is presently no staff member who is qualified to conduct the scans.
Dave said: “It is important that NHS Highland is doing all it can to ensure that the post is filled at Belford as soon as possible, so that normal service can resume.
“I was concerned to hear that the vacancy was not visible on the NHS recruitment website last week, and I have asked for clarification that everything is being done to ensure that the post is filled as soon as possible.”
