Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the announcement that Highland Council has signed contracts with Parklands Highland Ltd provision of new homes for older people in Muir of Ord in his constituency, as well as Tain.
Parklands will assume responsibility for the operation of the existing homes at Urray House and Duthac House in July, when staff will transfer to the employment of Parklands as part of TUPE arrangements. The homes will remain in operation until the replacements are completed by the end of April 2014.
Dave said: “I welcome the news that older residents in Muir of Ord will have new care homes from April next year, albeit with private operators.
“It is good news that current staff are protected by TUPE regulations, and I understand that meetings will be held with staff, residents and their families to confirm details.
“This will provide certainty for the staff and residents, and I am glad that following the end of the procurement process the contract has been signed promptly.”
