Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has welcomed the study commissioned by the Scottish Crofting Federation which states that the proposed Skye and Lochalsh abattoir could return a modest profit if it’s capital costs were funded.
Commenting on this, Dave said: “I was pleased to note that the study commissioned by the Scottish Crofting Federation has concluded that the Skye and Lochalsh Abattoir could be a viable venture.
“The study has qualified this by stating that the abattoir could return a modest profit if the costs of construction are funded, so the challenge now will be trying to secure funding to cover the capital costs.
“I intend to raise this issue in Thursday’s debate on crofting in the Parliament, and will do all I can to support this proposal.”
