Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the news that the Scottish Government are providing a grant of £1.8 million for Adelphi Distillery Ltd to construct a new distillery on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
The grant was part of a £9 million funding package announced for food and drink companies by Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead.
Commenting on this, Dave said: “I am delighted to welcome this substantial funding package for the proposed Adelphi distillery. The new facility will bring jobs to Ardnamurchan, will benefit the local supply chain through demand for barley and other ingredients, and is another reason for tourists to visit the area and stay in local Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels.
“I am particularly delighted with the size of the grant from the Scottish Government; £1.8 million is a huge investment for one of the most remote areas of my constituency, or around Scotland. This is very positive news for our most westerly peninsula and the wider west Lochaber economy.”
