Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has signed the petition supporting the case for Alain Baxter to be awarded a Bronze medal for his third place in the 2002 Olympic Ski Slalom.

Dave said, “I applaud this petition and hope that the IOC will review their decision in the light of the fundamental principle of fairness that underpins the Olympian ideal.

“This was a personal tragedy for Alain and the Arbitration hearing cleared him of performance enhancement, and cleared his name of any suggestion of cheating.

“Having met him I know he remains an iconic role model for our young athletes to aspire to.”
