Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch attended a Parliamentary Event for Patient Opinion last week. The event was sponsored by Alex Neil (MSP), Cabinet Secretary for Health and Well-Being.

Patient Opinion is a non-profit social enterprise whose aim is to use the resources of the internet to make it quick, easy, and safe for patients and carers to give feedback regarding the health service and for providers to respond to and make use of this information for service improvement.

Commenting on the event, Dave said: “I am pleased to support Patient Opinion and their work towards improving health services for patients and carers. Patient Opinion has worked towards improving relationships between service staff and patients, opening an important dialogue that has greatly contributed towards bettering care across Scotland. The work Patient Opinion does towards enabling our citizens to take control of their care and addressing the concerns of carers and families is a priority for the Scottish Government.

“Gary Coutts, the chair of NHS Highland who spoke at the event, and I share a passion for the continuous improvement of health services in our area. I commend Mr Coutts’ work with Patient Opinion and towards the implementation of the Highland Quality Approach, which has given staff and patients the ability to focus on improving their quality of care while also eliminating waste from the system that is both expensive to taxpayers and harmful to patients.

“I encourage citizens to use Patient Opinion to ‘share your stories’ on the Patient Opinion website, www.patientopinion.org.uk, regarding health services so that together, we can work towards bettering health services in Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch as well as throughout the country.
