Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, and a former Director of Trading Standards, recently sponsored “Safeguarding the Victims of Financial Crime” – a Consumer Empowerment Alliance event in the Scottish Parliament. The event was held as a precursor to the Consumer Empowerment’s Alliance main conference taking place elsewhere in Edinburgh.
Mr Thompson supports the mission to safeguard citizens of Financial Crime and was delighted to sponsor the event.
Mr Thompson said, “I support the Consumer Empowerment Alliance commitment to safeguarding citizens from financial crime and as such, I was delighted to sponsor the Consumer Empowerment Alliance Event in the Parliament.
“Recent rises in reported crime involving doorstep callers, and rogue traders, have generated more requests for information and advice on how to prevent consumers from becoming victims of this type of crime.
“We must ensure we equip the general public with this all-important preventative knowledge, so as we are able to safeguard those who might be victims of a financial crime.
I am naturally very supportive of the aims of the community empowerment alliance”.
