Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch and Vice President of the CTSI hosted (16/06/15) the Scottish launch of the Chartered Institute as part of a Chartered Status Celebration by The Trading Standards Institute in the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish launch of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute was designed to raise awareness of the role of the Institute amongst MSP's and key partners, including MSP's, The Scottish Government, Partner Groups and Trading Standards Professionals.
Mr Thompson said, “As a former Vice President of the CTSI, it was a great privilege to host the Scottish launch of the Chartered Institute as part of a Chartered Status Celebration by The Trading Standards Institute in the Scottish Parliament.
The event enabled MSP's to engage with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute and provided them with sources of support on consumer protection policy and links to trading standards and gave the Institute an opportunity raise awareness of the institute’s role”.
CTSI’s chief executive Leon Livermore said:
“I am delighted and proud to be at the helm of this organisation at this historic moment. Being granted the prestigious Royal Charter is a testament to our achievements and value as a professional body, and I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been part of the long process that has brought us here.
“We start this new era with a strong new vision for trading standards, to ensure a resilient a sustainable service that can continue to fight the corner of consumers and honest businesses despite continuing budget cuts in local authorities”.
