Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is encouraging people to have their hearing checked online or on the phone as part of the Community Pharmacy Scotland and Action for Hearing Loss Campaign.
Last week, Mr Thompson lent his support to the collaborative campaign which is being run to actively encourage patients to check their hearing (see photograph attached). The hearing check is free and can be accessed online at www.actionhearingloss.org.uk/hearingcheck or by phoning 0844 800 3838. The test is quick and easy and can determine whether a patient needs help with their hearing or not.
Mr Thompson said, ‘The latest campaign from Community Pharmacy Scotland is designed to make it as easy as possible for someone to check their hearing. Anybody can take the test online or on the phone and Action Hearing Loss will then guide the patient on any further steps they need to take.
“Community Pharmacy Scotland regularly run campaigns and I welcome this latest one. This is an incredibly useful campaign as it is very important that we look after our hearing by taking regular hearing checks in order to determine whether we have hearing loss. In the next few months there will also be campaigns on detecting cancer, diabetes and the flu vaccination.
“I cannot stress enough how quick and easy the hearing test is online or on the phone, and warmly encourage everybody to take the test wherever they are.”
