Dave Thompson SNP MSP Skye, Lochaber, and Badenoch attended an event last week put on by Psoriasis Scotland Arthritis Link Volunteers (PSALV) as part of World Psoriasis Day, which was the 29th October.
Dave commented on the event saying: “I am pleased that charities such as Psoriasis Scotland exist to raise awareness about such a serious disease and I thank them for their hard work and service.
Psoriasis Scotland is the only Scottish member of the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA).
Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis greatly affect one’s quality of life, and early diagnosis is essential. Even minimal skin psoriasis can lead to more destructive ailments with more serious cases linked to diabetes, heart disease and depression. There are 125 million people suffering from psoriasis worldwide and 114,000 within Scotland alone.
Adding to this, Dave said: “With psoriasis affecting over 100,000 people in Scotland and being linked to other serious diseases, the work Psoriasis Scotland is doing is essential.
I welcome their commitment to not only raise awareness, but to also provide support for suffers of psoriasis and their families.”
