Dear Sir.
For the information of Mr Richard Ardern (Ross-shire Journal 26 March 2010) I could not attend the Conon Bridge Community Council as I was working at the Parliament and I fear he is not as politically impartial as he would like your readers to think. He calls for all to work together yet spends most of his letter attacking me. Where is the consensus building that is needed to take the Conon Railway Stop forward?
I am certainly ready to work with all to make this happen but LibDem duplicity and politicising of the issue for hoped for electoral gain could well destroy the good work that is being done by the Community Council.
Like it or not, the LibDem led Highland Council now has responsibility for this project and we must all work with them to progress it. They have full discretion on how to spend their capital funding and can certainly put some towards this project if they choose to. We can then work on others, including the government, to come up with the balance.
The key, however, is a substantial financial commitment from the Council. Without this, I am afraid, no progress will be made.
Yours sincerely,
Dave
