Dave Thompson SNP MSP For Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch welcomed news from Transport Scotland that BEAR Scotland, their operational partner, is working on detailed repair plans with Historic Scotland for the iconic Old Fort in Fort William.

It was confirmed by Bob Mitchell of Transport Scotland to Dave that following representations from Dave and many other concerned local folk in the town that repair planning is well under way and should reach a point where the drawings can be made public around the middle of next month (August).

Mr Thompson said: “I am very happy that after some unfortunate delays this iconic site on the shore and handily near the centre of the town is finally getting the attention it deserves.

“Fort William has much to offer the tourist and this historic site should be made safe and accessible to add to this tourist experience. I look forward to the plans being made public and I hope they are sensibly comprehensive.”
