As a result of the Scottish Government’s on-going commitment to land reform, the communities of Invergarry and Glengarry have an exciting opportunity to purchase woodland from the Forestry Commission to make the forest a focus for workers, visitors and the whole community. Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch said: “This is something I wholeheartedly support. The purchase of this woodland would be a definite boost to the whole community as it will provide employment, activity and enjoyment in the area”.
Dave went on: “I have written to Glengarry Community Woodland offering my support and would encourage any like minded financial backers or funding bodies to support this community bid”.
Notes:
The project is supported by the Community Council and will be put to the wider community within the next few weeks.

Dear Jon
Prospective Purchase of Woodland
Thank you for your email regarding the possible purchase of woodland from the Forestry Commission. The purchase of this woodland is to be supported as it would be a definite boost to the local and wider community. As you stated there is also the possibility of woodland activity for workers and the prospect of bringing employment to the local area is one to be fully supported.
I am very happy to lend my support to the community in your bid to raise the funding necessary to make this purchase.
I hope that this is helpful to you. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Yours sincerely
Dave Thompson
