Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is delighted that Fort William Youth Shinty Club is to gain from £4,500 of funding from Awards for All.

The club will fund all year shinty training for young people in the Fort William area and will run mini taster sessions for school children, which will include an inter school tournament in the spring of 2015.

Dave responded to this great news by saying, “I would like to extend my congratulations to all those involved in running the shinty club and wish them all the best with their planned taster sessions, which I am confident the youngsters will enjoy.

And, who knows, maybe a future shinty international will be unearthed as a result!

Awards for All Scotland is supported by Creative Scotland, sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.

They award grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
