Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is disappointed to learn that BSW Timber Group has been distributing literature to their employees, outlining their negative stance towards Scottish independence, even going so far as listing the perceived risks to their company.
In the document received by an employee, BSW argue that free trade between the Nations of the UK has benefitted them and they imply this will be affected by independence.
Commenting on this Mr Thompson said, “We are all part of the EU and this will continue if Scotland is independent. There can be no barriers to trade. The real risk to free trade is the proposed in/out referendum by David Cameron.
“It is disappointing that a company is applying psychological pressure on their employees to vote no in the forthcoming referendum and in such an overt way”.
Dave went on, “When a company is in a position of influence over their employees they should ensure they do not prejudice the proper exercise of these employees own free democratic will. This is not what a democracy is about”.
