Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has called on Highland Council to “think outside the box” when considering route options to counter the perennial problem of landslides at and around the Stromeferry bypass.
This follows yet another landslip last week which resulted in the closure of the A890, as a result of heavy rain and fallen debris.
Commenting on this Mr Thompson said, “Highland Council must be innovative in their thinking. I am interested to see the Report due at Highland Council this week and I am hopeful that they will respond timeously and constructively to the findings”.
Dave went on, “Highland Council must think out of the box. For instance, funding for a barrage could be sought from the EU renewables funds and/or the private sector and I am sure there will be other suggestions”.
He concluded, However, one thing is guaranteed and that is that action on the Stromeferry bypass is as imperative as it is essential”.
