Dave Thompson MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has received a response from Alex Neil, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, to his letter regarding the withdrawal of surgical services from the Mackinnon Memorial Hospital.

In the letter Alex intimates that he will ask NHS Highland, as a matter of urgency, to provide him with a full report on why the decision was made and what other options it has considered.

Mr Thompson said, “This is an issue I have been involved with for some time, including recently writing to Garry Coutts, the Chair of NHS Highland to raise my constituents concerns”.

Dave went on, “I am pleased that the Minister has taken the time to respond and I look forward to seeing the NHS Highland report when it becomes available”.
