In response to Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch urgently writing to Network Rail about trespass incidents in the Aviemore area and the need for adequate fencing, Network Rail have confirmed that work on installing a new 1.8 metre galvanised expamate fence in close proximity to Aviemore Community School will begin this week.
Dave Thompson, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch recently wrote to Network Rail expressing the need for a fence at this spot where there have been four reported trespass incidents already in 2014 and is “delighted” that as a result of his intervention Network Rail have responded in this way.
Reacting to this Mr Thompson said, “I am delighted that Network Rail have taken heed of my letter and are getting to work so soon on erecting a new fence, which will make trespass less likely and the area around Aviemore Community School safer”.
Commenting on this SNP Councillor Bill Lobban said, “I am heartened that Dave Thompson acted so quickly and that Network Rail are taking their responsibility for the safety of children seriously and I look forward to the completion of this new safety fencing.
