Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch fully supports NHS Highland’s recommendation to develop a Community Hospital ‘Hub’ in Broadford and a “Spoke” facility in Portree.
This follows today’s (02/12/14) NHS Highland meeting which endorsed plans to develop the community hospital and resource centre in Broadford and a “spoke” facility in Portree.
Commenting on this Mr Thompson said, “This is great news for Skye, Lochalsh and South West Ross as a state of the art brand new hospital is badly needed to replace the existing ageing facilities. It is particularly important at a time when public money has been cut by the Westminster government that the Scottish government has committed to funding the new hospital”.
“I hope that everyone will now get behind this fantastic project and help move it forward as quickly as possible.
Dave went on, “I had been concerned about the possible reduction in Primary Emergency Care in Portree so I am relieved that, contained within the proposal, the Primary Care and Emergency Centre will remain open in the Portree Hospital “spoke” facility and the hours will be unaffected”.
“However, the services provided must be as robust as possible; I will continue to campaign to make sure this is the case and I am very much looking forward to the new hospital becoming a reality”.
