Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is delighted to learn that Badenoch and Strathspey Community Transport Company has been successful in its application for a £485,047 grant from Investing in Communities Supporting 21st Century Life.
Commenting on this Mr Thompson said, “This is a significant sum of money, which will assist the company in expanding their range of support to folk in the community, including ensuring that older people get weekly access to various social activities”.
Dave went on, “I am delighted that the organisation will be providing services in the form of a community car scheme and a shopping project with the aim of helping up to 100 of our most isolated residents, including those with disabilities or mental health issues”.
“Knowing the group well I know they are doing great work and that Maggie and her team are extremely dedicated to helping people get out and about, and this grant will enable them to do just that”.

I am delighted to inform you that Badenoch and Strathspey Community Transport Company in your Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency has been successful in applying for a £485,047 grant from Investing in Communities: Supporting 21st Century Life
The organisation will be able to expand their range of support services of support, including a community car scheme and shopping project, to up to 100 isolated older people in the community including those who live alone, have disabilities or mental health issues. The project will also ensure the older people get weekly access to a range of social activities and benefit from a befriending project.
Investing in Communities has a primary focus on tackling disadvantage and addressing inequalities and has three investment areas: Growing Community Assets, Life Transitions and Supporting 21st Century Life. We hope this funding stream will help those individuals, families and communities in greatest need in these challenging times.
The Big Lottery Fund is investing in Scotland’s communities through its Investing in Communities portfolio as well as the small grants schemes Awards for All and Investing in Ideas.
