Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has issued a letter of support for the Community of Raasay Retail Association Ltd (CORRA), to help in their efforts to purchase and run the shop on Raasay.
Commenting on this, Mr Thompson said: “I fully support the efforts of CORRA in securing the funding to run the shop on Raasay to keep it open. I also support the proposal that the Post Office should be sited within the shop to ensure that Post Office services remain on the island.
“Going to the local shop is something folk in urban mainland areas take for granted, but to lose the shop and Post Office on Raasay would have a hugely negative impact on the lives of the residents.
“CORRA will run the shop and Post Office as a non-profit enterprise, ploughing any profits back into the business and this will benefit the Island and the residents immensely.
“I am happy to help in any way I can, and am delighted to offer my support to this project.
