Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has added his voice to the Scottish Crofting Federation to respond to the CAP consultation by the extended deadline of 28th March.
Dave said, “I have made a number of interventions urging the Government to tailor the new CAP scheme so that the crofting way of life is further supported. However, the best response is for as many crofters as possible to put their thoughts in to the consultation.
“Big farmers and high intensity farmers are not hesitating from putting their case to the Scottish Government. Crofters must do the same.
“The crofting way of life is critically important to the Highlands and Islands and I am encouraged by the news that the Government is looking again at potentially enhancing the rough grazing rates.
“I also urged the Cabinet Secretary to maintain CCAGS, as the separation of the Crofting Counties must be maintained and I understand he is now leaning in this direction.
“I am for crofters and I am for the Highlands, the two are intertwined and our voices must be heard before the 28th March.”
