Dave Thompson MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the news that Raasay Community Association has recently received a £9000 Awards for All grant.
The award will allow the group to purchase and install acoustic panelling in the main hall of the community building which will improve sound quality and attendees' experience at events, meaning older members of the community will be able to hear and participate in events, which will result in a more diverse range of events taking place.
In welcoming the news, Mr Thompson said, “Older folk, of which there are many in my constituency, are as much an integral part of society as younger adults making their way in the world, therefore to have this money used in a manner that will specifically benefit them is fantastic news”.
Dave concluded, “Finally, I would like to wish the group every success with the planned installations and I hope that everything progresses as planned for the Association”.
Note:
Awards for All Scotland is supported by Creative Scotland, sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.
They award grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
