Dave Thompson SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the news that Friends of Abbeyfield Fundraising Committee recently received a £10,000 Awards for All grant.

This money will give the group the chance to offer entertainment to older people from rural areas for 48 weeks over the course of the year.

Commenting on this Mr Thompson said, “Rural areas typically do not have the plethora of entertainment choices that folk from bigger towns and cities take for granted, so the news that entertainment will be available to older people for nearly the whole year is very pleasing indeed”.

Dave went on, “I look forward to finding out what sort of entertainment will be available and wish the group and all those involved every success”.

Awards for All Scotland is supported by Creative Scotland, sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund.

They award grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
